Gates Open For 2nd Congressional District Race
by: L. Martin
Rating : Average Rating : 9.00 From 1 Voter(s)

The campaign gates have opened for the 2nd Congressional District Race.
Some candidates have already taken off to a quick start with billboards ads, push cards, tv commercial, internet e-blast, and of course endorsements. By all means, the political muscle of each candidate will undoubtedly push marketing materials to new heights. The question is whether it will sway voters to jump aboard their platform and embrace their political views at the polls.

Byron Lee is one of the many candidates attempting to take the fight to Washington. Issues that affect the pocket book, the war, healthcare, education, and care of the elderly, will be on the minds of voter come this October.

Councilman Lee is one of two Jefferson Parish Councilmembers who represent both the East and West Bank in Jefferson Parish. Councilman Lee's major initiative since he has been in office has been the institution of a parishwide Community Healthcare Network, Housing initiatives for low to moderate income families, and he is a vocal supporter of Public Transit and Youth Scholarship Programs.

He is widely known and respected in parts of Louisiana, as a person of integrity who serves the best interest of his constituents.

This is not to say that others won’t do the same, and the Kentucky Derby could not have a better lineup of racehorses to compete for the crown. However, only one will win, and for the winner, they’ll take home the prize relic that represents speed, agility, stamina, and of course, a good jockey.

But for the congressional candidate, this race is not based on who will bring home the prize, but who will deliver constituents a servant leader poised to represent District 2 in Washington. This candidate, will undoubtedly, need to have dignity, respect, integrity, honesty , characteristic of good leadership and most importantly, an academic aptitude to occupy a congressional seat. This is not a local ballpark race, and voter’s scrutiny will dismiss any elementary candidate who thinks so

After carefully looking at many of the candidates background, reputation, experience and leadership qualities, by virtue of the criteria needed to effectively win this race, some are seen as just spoilers, and have no real chance of winning. As we all understand, the spoilers won’t likely get passed the runoff, but will spread the vote away from the potential front runner contenders.

However, there is one strong contender that is looking very impressive and will likely take many by surprise. That candidate is none other than, Byron Lee.

Byron Lee’s political stats at the gate are so impressive, that he is already seen as being qualified for both congress and the senate. The bigger question is, can he convince Orleans Parish voters to make the kind of changes that will get rid of the old guard, and dismiss the notion of entertaining the blind ambition of few new kids on the block. Whatever the case, Byron Lee is likely become a front-runner to this congressional campaign race.
