Revereren Recasner, Resent White City Council Members Sick-Out, Walk-Out Before Hearing From Citizens
Rev. Recassner told remaining black council members who stayed to hear what the people had to say, while white city council members all left meeting for medical reasons, that "if I'd knew this was doctor scheduling day, I'd made an appointment at my doctor instead of coming out to voice my opinion with you all."
"The average citizen don't have time to come down here everyday and monitor the business of the council. When you call us we try to be here, because we are very much concerned with the business of our community. The average Joe on the street don't have time for foolishness."
